Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound Italian sausage meat
  • 1 small yellow onion (chopped)
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt)
  • Pepper
  • 1 can (15 ounce) tomato sauce (Hunt's tomato sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper (to taste)
  • 8 ounces dry medium pasta shells (about 2 cups dry)
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Monterey Jack cheese blend)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat a few tablespoons of oil or butter in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage meat, onion and garlic; cook until browned, stirring occasionally. Drain.

  • Step 2: Add tomato sauce, dry pasta shells and water; stir to combine. Bring to a boil. Add salt and pepper. Cover; reduce heat and cook 12-15 minutes or until pasta is tender.

  • Step 3: Stir in ketchup (add in more that 1/3 cup if you like) heat through.

  • Step 4: Top with cheese and let stand until cheese melts.
