Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast
  • Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil (peanut oil, plus more for cooking chicken)
  • 1 package (6 ounce) chow mein noodles (or Chinese egg noodles)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons minced fresh garlic
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onion
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Thai garlic chili paste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Garnish, use one or all
  • 1/2 cup bean sprouts
  • 1/2 cup peanuts
  • Sriracha sauce
  • Green onions, chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: Season the chicken with pepper. Sauté in a skillet in a little oil for ten to twelve minutes or until cooked through (don't overcook or it will be dry) set aside.

  • Step 2: Prepare the chow mein noodles following package directions.

  • Step 3: Add garlic, ginger, and green onion to the same wok pan or skillet, sauté over medium heat for just a few seconds; careful that the garlic doesn't burn.

  • Step 4: Add soy sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar and chile-garlic sauce.

  • Step 5: Combine the cornstarch with 1/2 cup water and stir it into the sauce.

  • Step 6: Simmer sauce for about 2 minutes or until it thickens.

  • Step 7: Once thick, add the chicken and simmer for an additional 3 minutes.

  • Step 8: Add the noodles to the pan and stir gently.

  • Step 9: Garnish with bean sprouts or peanuts and green onions before serving.
