Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 tablespoon tamari
  • 1/2 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tablespoon hot sauce (sriracha)
  • 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 ounces bacon (2 slices raw bacon, minced)
  • 2 tablespoons white onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon five spice powder
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots
  • 1/2 cup diced broccoli (fresh)
  • 1/2 cup whole kernel corn (canned corn, drained)
  • 2 cups cooked rice (cold)
  • 1/8 cup chopped green onions
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine tamari, rice vinegar, sriracha and sesame oil in a small bowl; set aside.

  • Step 2: Cook bacon pieces in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Step 3: Using the bacon fat as the cooking oil, add onions, garlic and five spice powder; stir fry until translucent, about 2 minutes. Stir in carrots and broccoli and cook until brightly colored and just beginning to soften, about 3 minutes.

  • Step 4: Add canned corn and rice, breaking up rice with a spatula. Cook until heated through, about 2 minutes.

  • Step 5: Toss in green onions and reserved sauce; toss to incorporate.

  • Step 6: Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve immediately.
