  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • Oil (for deep frying, 2 cups)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Bring a large saucepan of water to boil. lunge the tomatoes in the water, and hold them there for about 1 min. Remove the tomatoes from the water and hold them under cold running water to remove the skins.

  • Step 2: Cut the tomatoes horizontally and remove the seeds. Coarsely chop the tomatoes.

  • Step 3: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Add the beaten egg, tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and cheese, stirring to coat the tomatoes.

  • Step 4: Shape the mixture into patties or balls, and deep fry in hot oil for about 30 seconds on each side or until golden.

  • Step 5: Drain on paper towels.
