Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
  • 3 large eggs
  • 24 ounces sweetened flaked coconut (this is about 6 cups)
  • 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate (melted)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Line 3 rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • Step 3: Using an electric mixer in a large bowl beat the butter until smooth. Add sugar and salt, beating until blended. Beat in the orange peel and then the eggs one at a time. Stir in coconut.

  • Step 4: Drop batter onto sheets, 1 tablespoon at a time, spacing 1 1/2 inches apart.

  • Step 5: Bake one sheet at a time until golden and bottom and browned in spots (25-30 minutes). Cool completely on the baking sheets.

  • Step 6: Using a fork drizzle chocolate over the macaroons. Chill on the sheets until the chocolate is firm (30 minutes)
