We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Dressing ... Add everything to a small bowl or measuring cup; and, mix to combine. Refrigerate until ready to use. I like this to set a couple of hours in the refrigerator until serving if possible. Remember, you can use fat or low fat; or sugar free ingredients if you want.

  • Step 2: Beef ... Add the beef, onions, worcestershire, and seasoning to a heavy skillet, on medium heat, sprayed with a little olive oil or nonstick spray. Then, saute, trying NOT to break up the beef too much as it cooks. Once the beef is done; and, no longer pink - it is done; and, I like the beef, nice and deep golden brown. Also, if you are using a lean ground mix; you shouldn't have any excess grease in the pan.

  • Step 3: Flatbread ... I took a simple store bought flatbread (plain), brushed or sprayed lightly with olive oil, sesame seeds, a little kosher salt and pepper; and, simply toasted in a 400 degree oven, middle shelf - until warm, and slightly crisp (5-7 minutes). Cut, into wedges. This replaces croutons.

  • Step 4: Salad ... As the beef cooks; prepare your salad. Now, I like to serve this as a chopped salad (meaning everything is small diced or chopped). This is not necessary; but, it is just how I like to serve it. Add the mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, pickles, cheeses, cooked beef, and half of the dressing to the salad; and, toss to combine.

  • Step 5: Now, you can always add more dressing - according to your taste. I actually prefer to 'lightly' dress my salads ... some like more dressing, that is up to you. You can always just serve it on the side as well. Then, finish with the sesame seeds, you can toast them if you want; I don't - just sprinkle on top.

  • Step 6: Serve and ENJOY! ... A big bowl and 4 plates. Dig in! Put the extra dressing and flatbread on the table for those who want. And, a bowl of soup or a fruit salad is a perfect side dish.
