Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 150 grams raisins (1 cup)
  • 1 cup water (cold)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground clove
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • FOR TOPPING
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 65 grams chopped walnuts (1/2 cup chopped)
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a medium sauce pan over medium high heat add the sugar, raisins, water, butter, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and salt.

  • Step 2: Bring to a boil and gently boil for 3 minutes.

  • Step 3: Remove from heat and let cool (about 20 minutes).

  • Step 4: Preheat oven to 350°.

  • Step 5: Add other ingredients (except for the topping), to sauce pan and blend well.

  • Step 6: Spread in greased 10x15 pan.

  • Step 7: Combine all topping ingredients in a small bowl.

  • Step 8: Crumble topping over and press down slightly.

  • Step 9: Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes.

  • Step 10: Cool before cutting.
