The ingredients are:
  • 4 cups milk (1 quart)
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground or freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place milk in 2-quart casserole dish. Cover and heat in microwave on full power for 5 to 6 minutes, or until temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Do not boil.

  • Step 2: Beat egg yolks lightly, with sugar, spices and vanilla. Stir one cup hot milk into egg mixture and then gradually blend all of egg mixture into milk.

  • Step 3: Cover and heat in microwave on full power for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 minutes, or until warmed. Stir halfway through cooking time.

  • Step 4: Serve warm or cold.
