Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 can (15 ounce) unsweetened crushed pineapple (in natural juice, undrained, 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons ketchup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (more or less to taste)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (+1 teaspoon)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Sauce ... Add the pineapple, brown sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, mustard, 1/4 cup water to a small pot; and, bring to a boil. Immediately reduce the heat to medium low, cover; and, simmer for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.

  • Step 2: After the sauce has simmered; add the corn starch and remaining water to a small bowl or cup; and, mix to combine. Add to the pineapple sauce, mix; and, bring to a light boil. Once again, cook just a minute; then, reduce to low heat. Simmer 5 minutes.

  • Step 3: Serve and ENJOY! ... Transfer the sauce to a serving bowl; and serve warm. Easy to make ahead, then just warm up (it reheats well on the stove or in the microwave). Now, you can always cut this recipe in half too. It does not freeze well; but, will last a week in the refrigerator.
