  • 1 1/2 cups water (or chicken broth)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1/2 cup butter, cubed
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped (or 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder)
  • 2 cups dry instant rice (such as Minute Rice)
  • 1 can (10 3/4 ounce) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 1 jar (8 ounce) Chese Whiz processed cheese spread
  • 1 package (16 ounce) frozen chopped broccoli (thawed, coarsely chopped then hand-squeezed dry to remove as much moisture as possible
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, then grease a 2 or 2-1/2-quart baking dish.

  • Step 2: In a large saucepan bring the water or broth, garlic powder, seasoned salt, black pepper, butter and onion to a boil.

  • Step 3: Stir in rice, then remove from the heat; cover and let stand for 5 minutes or until water or broth is absorbed.

  • Step 4: Stir in condensed soup, cheese sauce then chopped broccoli.

  • Step 5: Transfer to baking dish.

  • Step 6: Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

  • Step 7: Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly.
