Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Oil, for deep frying (about 4 cups)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cans (12 ounces) crabmeat (drained and flaked, 6 ounce each can)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons chopped water chestnuts (drained and finely chopped, something close to minced but not quite as fine)
  • 1 package (14 ounce) wonton wrappers

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, crabmeat, garlic powder, paprika and water chestnuts.

  • Step 2: Place approximately 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese-crab mixture in the center of wonton wrappers. Moisten wrapper edges with water, fold over the mixture and pinch to seal. Place them all on a plate.

  • Step 3: In a large, heavy sauce pan heat oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

  • Step 4: In small batches, fry a few at a time for 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
