Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 7 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk (or half and half cream)
  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened (3 sticks salted butter)
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a saucepan, whisk flour into the milk and place on stovetop. Cook over medium heat until it becomes smooth and turns to a paste. Set aside and let it cool completely.

  • Step 2: After paste has cooled completely, beat butter and sugar together until well blended, then add flour paste mixture one small scoop at a time, mix in the vanilla.

  • Step 3: Frost your cake.

  • NOTE for less frosting use these amounts: 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 1 cup milk, 1 cup softened butter, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
