Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 8 ounces dry rice (1 cup dry long grain white, do not sub instant!)
  • 1 can (10 1/2 ounce) condensed French onion soup (Campbell's)
  • 1 can (10 1/2 ounce) beef consommé (Campbell's, if sensitive to salt you can sub regular or low sodium beef broth)
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Dried thyme (pinch, crush between fingers when adding)
  • Ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 1/2 cup butter (cold, real butter, not margarine, salted or unsalted)
  • Green onion, chopped or parsley (for garnish - optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350º F.

  • Step 2: Combine first 7 ingredients into a buttered 1 1/2- quart baking dish or 9x9" baking dish.

  • Step 3: Cut butter into slices and place on top of rice mixture.

  • Step 4: Place on lid, or cover tightly with foil, and bake for 1 hour.

  • Step 5: Remove from oven and stir.

  • Step 6: Spoon into serving bowl, and garnish with parsley or green onion if desired.
