Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 4 ounces fresh elderberries (or 2 ounces dried)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon or 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground or whole cloves
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, chopped (leave peel on, you’re not eating it)
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon cayenne (optional, if your family can handle the heat)
  • 3/4 cup raw honey

How to Make

  • Step 1: Simmer (on very low heat) all ingredients, except honey for 30 minutes.

  • Step 2: Strain ingredients out and press well, to get liquid out. You can dry these and reuse again 1-2 times.

  • Step 3: Let cool a few minutes, then add the honey and stir until dissolved.

  • Step 4: Put in a glass jar (canning jar is good) and keep in the refrigerator.
