Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 3/4 cup walnut halves (chopped)
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup rum (dark rum)
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/4 pounds apples (6 tart apples, such as Gala)
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 85 grams unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • Pouring cream or whipped for serving

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat the oven to 180C. Combine the raisins, walnuts, sugar, rum and salt in a bowl; set aside.

  • Step 2: Core the apples and place right-side up in individual ramekins or baking dishes.

  • Step 3: Fill each apple with ¼ cup of the walnut mixture and divide the wine, pouring it over the top of each apple.

  • Step 4: Dot each apple with 1 tablespoon of butter and a drizzle of honey, cover tightly with foil, and bake until apples are tender (about 1 hour and 15 minutes).

  • Step 5: When the apples have softened completely, sprinkle with cinnamon and let cool slightly before serving in the ramekins with a generous topping of cream.
