Step 1: With a large, sharp knife cut corn cobs into 1 1/2 inch lengths.
Step 2: Place corn, beans, water, and butter (or bear grease) in a large saucepan.
Step 3: Salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4: Cover and bring to a boil over high heat.
Step 5: Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes.
Step 6: Stir in green onions and peppers and continue to simmer for 6 to 10 minutes, until beans are tender and peppers are tender-crisp.
Step 7: Remove lid and cook over high heat for 3 to 4 minutes, until liquid is reduced to about 1/2 cup.
