How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine the wine, juice, orange oil and sugar in a pot.

  • Step 2: Bring to a gentle boil.

  • Step 3: Peel the pears and cut them in half.

  • Step 4: Remove the core and slice a bit off the back so that the pears do not roll when placed in the pot (inside facing up).

  • Step 5: Place the pear halves in the pot and poach for 8 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally.

  • Step 6: Remove the pear halves from the liquid and set aside.

  • Step 7: As per the gelatin instructions, dilute it with water and add it to the hot liquid in the pan.

  • Step 8: Transfer to a dish and refrigerate immediately.

  • Step 9: Once the jelly has set, cut into small pieces.

  • Step 10: Preheat the oven on broil.

  • Step 11: Place the pear halves face-up on a baking tray.

  • Step 12: Add cheese to each of the pear halves and broil for 1 minute. (Always keep an eye on food that is being broiled.)

  • Step 13: Serve the pear halves accompanied with pieces of jellied syrup.
