The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds kohlrabi (peeled, 3 large pieces, roughly grated)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon salt, it said tablespoon
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lard (you could use butter)
  • 1 yellow onion, small grated
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seed, can be ground

How to Make

  • Step 1: Peel the kohlrabi, then roughly grate. Cover with water. Add cumin and salt, stir then simmer about 15 minutes.

  • Step 2: Meanwhile, in skillet prepare a roux: sauté onions in lard and sprinkle flour brown add roux to kohlrabi, simmer together until thickened, and season with vinegar, caraway and sugar. Season to your taste then simmer 5 more minutes.
