Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Grease baking sheet or spray with cooking spray.

  • Step 3: In a large bowl sift together the dry ingredients (flour - cinnamon) and cut in butter using two knives or a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in egg and milk and mix to form a thick dough.

  • Step 4: Roll dough into 1 inch balls.

  • Step 5: Transfer to baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

  • Step 6: Cover bottom of drinking glass with a moistened towel and flatten cookies to a mixture of 1/8 inch.

  • Step 7: In a cup combine sugar and remaining cinnamon; stir to blend. Sprinkle sugar mixture over the cookies.

  • Step 8: Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges.

  • Step 9: Cool cookies on a wire rack before serving.
