Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cans (28 ounce) pork and beans
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup mustard
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup pickle juice (juice from a jar of dill pickles)
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 4 ounces bacon (4 strips, halved crosswise)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Put the first 6 ingredients in a bean pot or ovenproof pot; stir to combine.

  • Step 3: Top mixture with the onion slices and then lay the bacon over the top in a single layer.

  • Step 4: Bake, uncovered, until the bacon is crisp and the beans are hot and bubbling (1 hour).

  • Step 5: Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly and then stir the onions and bacon into the beans.
