  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • FOR GLAZE
  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make

  • Step 1: Dissolve yeast in warm water

  • Step 2: Scald milk, add sugar and butter. Cool to lukewarm add yeast mixture and 2 cups flour. Let rise until light.

  • Step 3: Beat egg yolks and egg together.

  • Step 4: Add eggs and vanilla to 1st mixture. Add rest of flour and salt. Knead lightly and let rise.

  • Step 5: Roll dough 1/2 inch thickness. cut out into doughnuts. Let rise until light.

  • Step 6: Fry in deep fat.

  • Step 7: Glaze doughnuts while still warm.

  • FOR THE GLAZE

  • Step 8: Combine all ingredients add enough water to make mixture a medium consistency.
