  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground clove
  • SECOND LAYER
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup apple filling (canned)
  • THIRD LAYER
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup walnuts

How to Make

  • FOR THE FIRST LAYER

  • Step 1: Beat sugar and shortenig until creamy; add egg; mix. Stir in milk.

  • Step 2: Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves twice. Add to milk mixture.

  • Step 3: Spread 1/2 batter into a greased floured 9 inch pan.

  • Step 4: Sprinkle with 2nd layer.

  • Step 5: Cover with remaining batter.

  • Step 6: Scatter 3rd layer.

  • Step 7: Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 to 45 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
