Step 1: In a bowl using a hand mixer on low speed combine the milk or cream with instant vanilla pudding until thickened; set aside.
Step 2: In another bowl, on low speed beat the cream cheese with the Cool Whip. Whisk in the milk/pudding mix until smooth and well combined.
Step 3: Refrigerate while cake cools.
Step 4: Ice the cooled cake, and enjoy this lovely light icing.
