Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup lard
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup almonds
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 cup almonds (they need to be 30 almond halves, blanched but the computer doesnt understand this lol)
  • 1 egg yolk (beaten)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Sift flour and baking powder.

  • Step 2: Blend lard, sugar and 1/4 cup almonds in a food processor until it has a coarse meal texture.

  • Step 3: Add extract, eggs and 1 tablespoon water.

  • Step 4: Add flour mixture.

  • Step 5: Wrap and refrigerate overnight.

  • Step 6: Form 1-1/2 inch balls; press down; add almond half to indentation.

  • Step 7: Dip fingers in egg yolk and dip on top of cookies.

  • Step 8: Bake cookies on a floured cookie sheet 5 minutes at 375F and 8 to 10 minutes at 300°F to make sure dough is stiff.

  • Step 9: You may need to add a little more flour.
