Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 500 grams ground beef (beef mince)
  • 1 yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely diced
  • 2.6 ounces frozen peas (1/2 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (plain)
  • 1/2 cup beer (Guinness stout or beer)
  • Fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 500 ml beef stock
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 200ºC. Heat oil in a frying pan.

  • Step 2: Add mince, onion & carrot and cook for 5 mins or until meat has browned.

  • Step 3: Add peas, Worcestershire sauce & flour and cook for 1 min, stirring.

  • Step 4: Add Guinness and stock, bring to the boil, stirring, and cook for 5 minutes until just thickened.

  • Step 5: Season to taste with pepper.

  • Step 6: Divide mince between four 2-cup capacity ovenproof dishes.

  • Step 7: Cut pastry into circle to overlap ramekins & place on top of each pie.

  • Step 8: Bake for 20 mins or until golden.

  • Step 9: Serve with mashed potatoes & vegetables.
