  • 4.4 ounces nuts (1 cup, finely chopped nuts)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Beat butter and brown sugar together until light and flutty.

  • Step 2: Add egg and vanilla and beat well.

  • Step 3: Sift flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar together.

  • Step 4: Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating well after each addition.

  • Step 5: Blend in nuts.

  • Step 6: Separate dough into four parts.

  • Step 7: Roll each part into a cylinder about 1 1/4" thick.
