Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 375 grams chocolate (about 1 pkt dark chocolate melts)
  • 200 grams butter
  • 1 1/2 cups icing sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4.4 ounces nuts (1 cup nuts, optional, pecans, walnuts etc.)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Melt the chocolate and butter over low heat or in the microwave.

  • Step 2: Remove from heat, adding the icing sugar and mix well.

  • Step 3: Add vanilla essence and eggs one at a time, stirring well to mix.

  • Step 4: Add flour and nuts if using. (The mixture should be wet and elastic in consistency.)

  • Step 5: Pour into a baking paper lined sponge roll tin 20x30 cm and bake at 180°c for 30 to 35 minutes.

  • Step 6: Leave in the tin to cool.

  • Step 7: When completely cold, lift out and cut into squares.

  • Step 8: Dust with icing sugar to serve.
