Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper (or better yet, use Creole seasoning)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 7.9 ounces dry rice (1 cup dry white)
  • 4 cups finely chopped cabbage (about 3 large handfuls)
  • 1 can (8 ounce) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups water (I just use the tomato sauce can twice)
  • 1 can (14 ounce) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 cup shredded Colby Jack cheese
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook the ground beef with onions. Drain off grease.

  • Step 2: Mix in garlic powder, dry rice rice, cabbage, tomato sauce, 2 cups of water (or use tomato sauce cans) and diced tomatoes. Stir.

  • Step 3: Let it come to a boil and then reduce heat to medium low and cover to simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes or until rice is done and cabbage is soft. Do not lift lid before 20 minutes to make sure rice cooks well.

  • Step 4: Once cooked, top with cheese and cover with lid to melt a few minutes.
