The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds dry pasta shells (40 jumbo shells)
  • Water (for cooking pasta)
  • 2 tablespoons green peppers, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon red onion, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 pounds crab (lump, picked through)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1 large egg (slightly beaten)
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F.

  • Step 2: Cook pasta in boiling water according to package directions.

  • Step 3: Drain, rinse and cool.

  • Step 4: Meanwhile, melt 1 tablespoon butter in skillet.

  • Step 5: Add pepper and onion and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes.

  • Step 6: Combine crab, peppers and onions, black pepper, egg, mayonnaise, 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay and 1/2 cup milk.

  • Step 7: Melt 1/2 teaspoon butter in each of two 11"x7"x2" baking dishes.

  • Step 8: Spoon filling into pasta shells and arrange shells in dishes.

  • Step 9: Melt remaining butter over medium-low heat.

  • Step 10: Whisk in flour.

  • Step 11: Gradually whisk in remaining milk.

  • Step 12: Cook until slightly thickened.

  • Step 13: Stir in cheese.

  • Step 14: Drizzle sauce evenly over shells.

  • Step 15: Sprinkle with remaining Old Bay seasoning.

  • Step 16: Bake at 350° for 30 minutes, or until bubbly.

  • Step 17: Cool 10 minutes before serving.
