Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • DOUGH
  • 1 cup sour cream (heated to lukewarm and cooled)
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons butter (soft)
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 3 cups all-purpose white flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter (soft, set aside)
  • FILLING
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • GLAZE
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soft butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat sour cream to lukewarm and cool some.

  • Step 2: Mix yeast and warm water to proof.

  • Step 3: Add to the yeast--the sour cream, soft butter, sugar, salt, egg, and one cup of flour--beat till smooth; gradually adding the other two cups of flour and mix well.

  • Step 4: Rise till doubled and then place on floured board and roll into a 6"x24" rectangle; brush with saved soft butter.

  • Step 5: Mix the filling together and spread over half the rectangle.

  • Step 6: Fold the other half over the filling lengthwise; cut into 24-1" strips.

  • Step 7: Twist and place on greased baking sheet; rise till doubled.

  • Step 8: Bake 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes, but don't overbake; cool and drizzle glaze over them.
