Step 1: Combine hot water, vinegar, sugar and salt in glass bowl. Stir until sugar and salt dissolve.
Step 2: Add onions, serranos and crushed red pepper. Stir to blend.
Step 3: Cover and chill overnight. Can be made one week in advance. Keep chilled.
Step 4: Cook time is chill time.
