Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: In a mixing bowl, cream butter, oil and sugars.
Step 3: Add in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then add in extract.
Step 4: In another bowl combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture
Step 5: Stir in almonds and toffee bits.
Step 6: Drop by teaspoonfuls on to an ungreased cookie sheet 2-inches apart, then bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
