Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1 cup mayonnaise (Hellmann's or Best Foods Real Mayonnaise and NOT low-fat)
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 18 ounces apples (3 apples peeled and finely chopped, use cooking apples)
  • 5.3 ounces raisins (1 cup)
  • 4 1/2 ounces chopped walnuts (1 cup, or pecans)
  • Cream cheese frosting

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°.

  • Step 2: Grease and lightly flour 2 (9-inch) round baking pans; set aside.

  • Step 3: In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and cloves. Add mayonnaise, milk and eggs, using an electric mixer, beat at low speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl frequently (the batter will be thick). With a large spoon or spatula, stir in apples raisins and walnuts.

  • Step 4: Evenly spoon into prepared pans.

  • Step 5: Bake 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. On wire rack, cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans and cool completely. Frost with cream cheese frosting.
