Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (plain flour, sifted)
  • 1 cup oats (rolled)
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 3/4 cup desiccated (1.6 ounce) coconut
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup (or treacle)
  • 150 grams unsalted butter (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 170°C. Place the flour, oats, sugar and coconut in a large bowl and stir to combine.

  • Step 2: In a small saucepan place the golden syrup and butter and stir over low heat until the butter has fully melted. Mix the bicarbonate soda with 1 1/2 tablespoons of the water and add to the golden syrup mixture. It will bubble while you are stirring together so remove it from the heat.

  • Step 3: Pour into the dry ingredients and mix together until fully combined. Roll a tablespoon full of the mixture into a ball and place onto baking trays lined with non stick baking paper, pressing down on the tops to flatten slightly.

  • Step 4: Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
