Step 1: Sift flour, baking powder, sugar, salt into a bowl.
Step 2: Pour oil and milk into a measuring cup but do not stir. Add to yams and blend well.
Step 3: Add to flour an mix lightly with a fork until mixture holds together.
Step 4: Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead. Roll dough about 1/4 inch thick and cut into rounds with floured biscuit cutter.
Step 5: Place rounds on a baking sheet.
Step 6: Bake at 425 degrees F for 10-20 minutes.
Step 7: Serve hot or split when cold and toast.
