Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FILLING
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/4 teaspoon
  • 1/4 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon marjoram
  • 1 (8 ounce) yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 green (6 ounce) bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper, to taste
  • INDIAN FRY BREAD 1
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon shortening
  • 1 cup hot water hot (about)
  • Shortening or oil, for frying

How to Make

  • Step 1: Bread. Sift flour and salt into a bowl.

  • Step 2: Add the shortening and blend well.

  • Step 3: The water should be hot, but not boiling.

  • Step 4: Add water a little at a time, blending well.

  • Step 5: The dough should be soft but not sticky. You may need a little more or less water.

  • Step 6: Blend well and knead for 1-2 minutes. Turn out on to a floured board and knead until very smooth. Divide into 15 little balls.

  • Step 7: Cover and let rest for 30-40 minutes.

  • Step 8: Brown meat, Add pepper, onion, spices, and saute 5 minutes.

  • Step 9: Pinch off enough dough to make 15 patties,6 inches in diameter.

  • Step 10: Fill each dough patty with 2 Tbs of mixture,fold over, seal edge with tines of fork dipped in flour.

  • Step 11: Fry, turning once to a light brown.

  • Step 12: Drain on paper towels.

  • Step 13: Pork, chicken, or turkey can also be used.
