Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FOR SAUCE
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons wine (cooking wine)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 green onion, minced (white and green part)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
  • FOR THE CHOW MEIN
  • 14 ounces lo mein noodles (or 2 packages dry Yakisoba noodles prepared without seasoning packages)
  • 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable oil)
  • 7 to 8 ounces cabbage, sliced (2-3 cups sliced napa)
  • 12 ounce white onion (sliced thin, large onion)
  • 6 ounces celery, sliced (cut diagonally into 1/4 inch slices, 3 stalks)

How to Make

  • TO MAKE THE SAUCE

  • Step 1: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, cooking wine, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, green onions, and sesame oil; set aside.

  • TO MAKE THE NOODLES & REST OF THE RECIPE

  • Step 2: Make the lo mein noodles by placing in boiling water. Cook according to package directions. Drain.

  • Step 3: Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a wok or large skillet over medium high heat. Add onion and celery, and cook, stirring often, until tender, about 3-4 minutes, the onions will begin to become translucent. Stir in cabbage until heated through, about 1 minute.

  • Step 4: Add noodles, and 1/2 cup of prepared sauce, stir until well combined and the noodles are heated through, about 2 minutes. Serve immediately
