Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds nectarines (6 nectarines)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (soft)
  • 40 grams butter
  • 1 1/2 cups red wine
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 whole star anise
  • 1 orange zest (3 cm piece)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to 200C (fanforced 180C).

  • Step 2: Put the nectarines in ovenproof casserole dish so they fit snugly.

  • Step 3: Scatter with the sugar and dot with the butter. Add the wine, spices and orange zest.

  • Step 4: Cover dish with foil and roast nectarines for 30 minutes, until the fruit is soft.

  • Step 5: Cool nectarines in the syrup, (I refrigerated and served cold).

  • Step 6: These can be served on their own or with either yoghurt, ice-cream or custard.
