Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups dried navy beans
  • 1/2 pound bacon (sliced thin)
  • 1 yellow onion (chopped fine)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • Pinch ground cloves

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place beans in large bowl and cover with water; let soak overnight.

  • Step 2: Clean and drain the beans.

  • Step 3: Place drained beans in a 2 to 4 quart crock-pot.

  • Step 4: Add bacon, onions and garlic.

  • Step 5: In a bowl, mix the ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, dry mustard, salt, pepper and cloves with 1 cup hot water, making sure sugar is dissolved.

  • Step 6: Pour over the beans.

  • Step 7: Add enough water to cover the beans.

  • Step 8: Place cover on crock-pot and cook on low for 8 hours.
