Step 1: Place beans in large bowl and cover with water; let soak overnight.
Step 2: Clean and drain the beans.
Step 3: Place drained beans in a 2 to 4 quart crock-pot.
Step 4: Add bacon, onions and garlic.
Step 5: In a bowl, mix the ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, dry mustard, salt, pepper and cloves with 1 cup hot water, making sure sugar is dissolved.
Step 6: Pour over the beans.
Step 7: Add enough water to cover the beans.
Step 8: Place cover on crock-pot and cook on low for 8 hours.
