Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2: To make the topping: using a food processor and the steel knife (chopping knife) combine the dry ingredients (flour - salt), pulse to combine and then add the butter using on/off turns until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add the sour cream and blend until dough begins to come together. DO NOT OVER PROCESS; DO NOT ALLOW DOUGH TO COME TO A BALL. Transfer dough to a large baggie; work though the bag and form dough into a square; flatten to a 9 inch square and chill.
Step 3: To prepare the fruit: Using a food processor and the thickest slicer you have; slice the fruit. Transfer fruit to a 8 x 8 inch baking dish.
Step 4: In a small bowl or cup combine lemon juice and vanilla and pour over fruit; toss.
Step 5: Combine 1/4 cup sugar, flour and cloves in small bowl and sprinkle over the fruit. Rearrange fruit so they are in one layer, if necessary.
Step 6: Place dough on top of fruit and tuck edges under. Cut a 3-inch slit in center. Sprinkle dough with remaining 2 teaspoons sugar and the almonds. Place on a cookie sheet.
Step 7: Bake for 40 minutes or until crust is brown.
Step 8: Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
