How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine the ground beef with the onion, bell pepper and garlic in a bowl. Add plenty of salt and pepper. Mix well, then divide the mixture into four portions.

  • Step 2: Carefully shape each portion into a patty, using dampened hands or a burger press. Cover with a cloth and set aside while you make the guacamole.

  • Step 3: Scoop the avocado flesh into a bowl and mash with a fork, then mix in the garlic, tomatoes, lime juice, chili and cilantro. Add salt and pepper, to taste.

  • Step 4: Cover the surface of the guacamole with plastic wrap, leaving no air between plastic wrap and guacamole.

  • Step 5: Brush the burgers lightly with oil.

  • Step 6: Grill on a medium-hot barbecue for 8-10 minutes, or until cooked through. Turn the burgers once during cooking.

  • Step 7: Just before serving, heat the tortillas on the barbecue for about 15 seconds on each side.

  • Step 8: Place a spoonful of guacamole and a burger on each tortilla, then fold the tortilla over.

  • Step 9: Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve plain or with lettuce.
