Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds stewing beef (cubed, fresh)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons bacon fat
  • 1/2 cup diced yellow onions
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 3/4 cup wine (Burgundy wine)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Dredge meat in mixture of flour, salt and pepper. Brown slowly in bacon fat.

  • Step 2: Add remaining ingredients.

  • Step 3: Cover, and simmer very slowly, about 1 1/2 hours, until meat is tender.

  • Step 4: Stir often, adding a little water if needed.
