Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 5 large (2 pounds) apples (peeled, cored, sliced, recipe says chopped, but I like sliced)
  • 6 tablespoons brandy (or Applejack, Rum or Bourbon)
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cups oil (vegetable oil)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (unsifted)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1 cup walnuts (chopped)
  • 1 cup raisins (I use 1/2 golden and 1/2 regular)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place apples, raisins and Brandy (or other liquor) in bowl. Set aside.

  • Step 2: Mix together sugar, oil, eggs, and beat.

  • Step 3: Sift together dry ingredients.

  • Step 4: Combine apples, raisins and Brandy (or other liquor) with flour mixture and sugar mixture. Stir to mix.

  • Step 5: Add walnuts, and mix to combine.

  • Step 6: Bake at 350 degrees F, for 45-50 minutes.

  • Step 7: Cut in squares.

  • Step 8: Serve warm or room temperature.

  • Step 9: Top with whipped cream, ice cream or sour cream.
