Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 loaf focaccia bread (Italian focaccia bread, about 10 inches in diameter)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 4 to 5 leaf lettuce leaves
  • 1/4 pound provolone cheese slices
  • 1/4 pound fully cooked smoked ham slices
  • 1/4 pound salami slices
  • 2 medium tomatoes (sliced)
  • 8 pepperoccini (Italian bottled peppers) cut lengthwise in half

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cut bread loaf horizontally in half.

  • Step 2: Mix oil, vinegar, sugar, oregano and red pepper. Drizzle evenly over cut side of bottom and top halves of bread.

  • Step 3: Layer lettuce, cheese, ham, salami, tomatoes and peppers on bottom half. Top with top half.

  • Step 4: Secure loaf with toothpicks or small skewers. Wrap securely and refrigerate up to 6 hours. Cut into 6 pieces.

  • Note: You can substitute a 9-inch unsliced round loaf of Italian or sourdough bread. Cut the bread horizontally in half, and hollow out the inside of the loaf, leaving a 1-inch wall
