Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable oil)
  • 1/4 cup angel hair pasta (uncooked, broken in inch pieces)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 cups rice
  • 3 1/2 cups hot water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom (it said pods so if you have one toss it in)
  • 1 cinnamon stick

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat the oil until it shimmers in a medium pot with lid .

  • Step 2: Brown the pasta.

  • Step 3: Add the turmeric and stir for a few seconds until fragrant.

  • Step 4: Stir in the rice, brown lightly. Salt, cardamom, and cinnamon. Add hot water.

  • Step 5: Increase the heat to high and boil the rice until visible moisture is absorbed, about 5 minutes.

  • Step 6: Reduce the heat to low, and simmer rice, covered, for 20 minutes.

  • Step 7: Turn the rice gently with a wooden spoon 2 to 3 times while simmering to allow it to fluff.

  • Step 8: Serve with cardamom and cinnamon still in the rice, for garnish,( i take out )

  • Step 9: Typically alongside some Iraqi fish.
