Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced gingerroot
  • 1 cup grated beet
  • 1 teaspoon sambal powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/4 cup peas
  • 1 cup rice (cooked)
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: Melt butter in pan. Add cumin and mustard seeds, garlic and ginger; saute.

  • Step 2: Add beets. Cook on low until beets are tender; you may need to add a little water to prevent sticking.

  • Step 3: Add sambal powder, and garam masala powder.

  • Step 4: Stir in peas and cooked rice; stir until rice is red.
