Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk (scalded)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make

  • Step 1: Spread brown sugar over bottom of baking dish or mold.

  • Step 2: Beat eggs until blended. Add sugar and salt.

  • Step 3: Slowly stir in scalded milk. Temper first so you don't have scrambled eggs.

  • Step 4: Add vanilla and blend. Spoon over brown sugar.

  • Step 5: Set in baking dish in a pan of hot water so that water comes up one inch to the top of the baking dish.

  • Step 6: Bake 40 minutes at 350 degrees or until a knife inserted comes out clean.

  • Step 7: Run knife around edge and invert.
