Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 jar (10 ounce) maraschino cherries (drained, chopped reserve juice)
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup flaked coconut
  • FROSTING
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cherry juice

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix flour, sugar and butter until crumbly. Press into 13x9 inch pan. Bake 20 minutes. in 350 degree oven.

  • Step 2: Blend eggs, brown sugar, salt, baking powder and vanilla. Add cherries walnuts and coconut. Place on top of baked crust and bake 20 minutes.

  • Step 3: For frosting: combine butter and powdered sugar. Add enough cherry juice to make a spreading consistency. Spread on top of baked layers.

  • Step 4: Sprinkle with coconut

  • Step 5: When cool cut into bars.
