Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 can (14 1/2 ounce) diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 sweet onion (DO NOT CHOP, you will be removing it after the sauce has cooked!)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (NOT MARGARINE)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Dried crushed chili flakes (optional)
  • Pepper (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a sauce pan, add the diced tomatoes (with all of the juices from the can), garlic powder, the 1/2 of an onion, unsalted butter, oregano, and salt.

  • Step 2: Turn the heat to medium, partially cover with a lid and maintain a bare simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with pepper if you like while the sauce is simmering. Remove the onion before serving.
