Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 large yellow onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 bacon slices (chopped)
  • 750 grams ground beef (very lean heart smart)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (plain)
  • 1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
  • 1/3 cup tomato sauce (ketchup)
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 kilogram potatoes (peeled and cut into chunks)
  • 2 tablespoons light dairy spread
  • 3/4 cup low-fat milk
  • 3 cups frozen peas (baby peas)
  • 3 sheets puff pastry (frozen, thawed and quartered)
  • Oil spray

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook onion and bacon in a frying pan over medium heat until brown.

  • Step 2: Increase to high, add mince and cook until browned and then stir in flour and herbs and cook for 2 minutes

  • Step 3: Add sauces and stock and simmer for 10 minutes until thickened and then set aside and cool.

  • Step 4: Preheat oven to 220C.

  • Step 5: Boil potatoes for 10 minutes until tender and then drain and mash adding the dairy spread milk and beat until smooth.

  • Step 6: Microwave peas on HIGH for 3 minutes and roughly mash.

  • Step 7: Press pastry sheets into Texas muffin tins, overlapping side to fit and fill with 1/4 cup of the mince, top with some of the peas and then the mashed potato.

  • Step 8: Spray with oil spray and bake for 30 minutes until golden.
